General 240 V8 swap question

I have attempted contact with JTR and even have the manual used in their swap, and agree with the good documentation but lack of on hands support, not a complaint about the service, more just a observation. I haven't talked to the Converse Engineering as of yet, but definitely have them down to contact when i really get into this build.

I've been looking for several different donor cars for the swap, 305 5.0 out of a Chevy Camaro, Caprice and Pontiac Firebird, 88-93 Mustang 5.0l on the Ford side. Part of the decision is what you went through as well, to buy a engine that doesnt need repair, or buying one on the cheap, that does require the dunk.

The real question is more i guess meant for the die hard Ford and Chevy fans to debate, which 305 was better? The Chevy 5.0 or the Ford 5.0? Which engines were more reliable and took less work? And of course the question of price. Which one typically costs less to maintain?

Thanks for the response!
