Tach conversion

I am about ready to drop a 5L into a 945 and would like to convert the tach to work on the V8. I know that basically I need a small circuit to drop every other timing pulse but I don't quite know how to build a simple and easy divider circuit. If there is anyone out there that has done something like this and would like to share his/her knowledge I would be grateful for the help.
