Coolant temperature gauge on 240 with 338 V8 and 940 Radiator

During warm days in the summer I have observed that the Coolant temp gauge reaches sometimes 3/4 full (a few clicks below the red). This usually happens when driving around town. If I turn the heat on it quickly drops to the middle.

Has anyone experienced similar issues with the 940 Radiator?

I haven't seen the temp go more than 3/4 but I wasn't feeling too comfortable
operating the car in anything above the "middle" temp scale. I believe I have the stock 160 thermostat.

The conversion was performed by converse a few years ago.

Is there any recommended radiator upgrade?
Any other recommendations?

Thanks

Mike
