If you could do it again from scratch?

Interested in a 5.0 into a 960, but would like to balance time/money/quality.
If you had to save as much time and money to get the best vehicle in the end what would you do. Time is money so a I am willing to spend to offset labor. I am a Skilled Shade Tree Tech and have done all major mechanical repairs and have always wanted to do a swap and Volvo appeals to me. I am willing to put the time into finding the right donors and I plan on making this vehicle stout in all aspects. 5.0 or LT1? 200,700 or 900. JTR, Converse or fabricate it myself?

Thanks for your opinions.
