starter relay

The solenoid probably uses in the neighborhood of 8-10 amps. I never measured it but it should be within the range of your multimeters amp scale . Go measure!
I know for a fact that a relay will make the starter key contacts last the life of the car with a relay taking the load off them. Eliminates costly ignition switch replacements. Also makes the starter work better on cars with "hot starter" syndrome.
