fluid temperatures in LT1/4L60E?

Interesting that you found the same thing! I wouldn't doubt that on hotter days I would hit 260F.

In posting a similar message to some of the Camaro/LT1 sites most people say a similar thing.
1) they have driven for xxx,xxx miles on their LT1 with no oil cooler without problem. (no idea what the temp is)
2) people who have put in a temp gauge almost always install a cooler when they realize where they are running.

One of the guys pointed me to the BobIsTheOilGuy forum. It is all about oil and other fluids. Worth a read. Wisdom (based on analysis) is that 250-275 on normal oil USED to be bad. Newer, NORMAL oils seem to be able to hold up with these temperatures OK. Synthetic oils can go to 300 easily with investigations up to 350! Wow.
