fluid temperatures in LT1/4L60E?

Simon ,
I get about 18 around town driving very conservatively. Made a 200 mile trip today and got 21.5 MPG. Only a little city driving involved. This is with 6- speed, 36 psi in the tires , cruising at 65 MPH at about 1700 RPM , near 0 toe -in , synthetic oil, sun in the back etc. All in all not to spectacular but for 3500 lbs total weight this is in line with other vehicles of similar weight. My manual transmission temp. was 150 degrees .Rear axle temp. 135 degrees.
Now you know why your auto transm. gets a little worse milage. It takes energy to heat the oil to the temp you are running. This of course caused by the increased slippage in an auto even though the new ones are very good in this respect.
