Tony - I have a Ford powered 242, and I used Ford Racing Performance Products cooler for the 5.0L Mustang. It's a 'stacked plate' design, not fin tubes, and it self regulates on temperature. Having some temperature regulation is important in cold climates as it's possible to over-cool the oil, and that's not good either. You'd like temperatures around 210-220F on the oil.

If you have a coil with something in the 100 to 150 square inches range you should be fine. I'd recommend mounting the coil down low where the hot air off the oil cooler DOES NOT re-enter the air stream that's going over the radiator or a/c condenser, otherwise you hurt their efficiency.
