few questions on engines

The late 80's/early 90's efi motors were rated at 215-225HP; around 300 lb-ft of torque -- both depending on the particular year of the motor.

Small block Chevy output - especially a 383 stroker - is gonna depend on the build/tune of the engine. 300HP would be a pretty mild one. Remember - you're comparing 350-383 cubic inch engines with 302 cubes. So it's kind of apples and oranges.
