302 into 900 series

Much of this will depend on the smog requirements on your state. In California, one needs to meet smog for the year of the car into which one is putting the engine so it'd need to be FI.

Having said that, I'd do FI anyway. The car will be nicer to drive, likely have more midrange power and it isn't a big deal to hook up. It's self-contained and wouldn't require a lot more effort to get going that a carbed motor.
