Hurt the ride this weekend. Revved it a tad too hard (on dirt in third(hillbilly drifiting)), & popped/shredded the belt. I'm prone to throwing the belt every year or two anyway. Anyone else having trouble with this?
This time it looks like it took the powersteering pulley/unit out with it. The pulley is now at a "jaunty angle" compared to the rest of the pulley's. So I've decided to remove the a/c compressor & hoses out with it. Really cleans up the front of the motor area nice.
I'm not using it anyway, you know. So I guess the question now is what belt length do I need to procure? I'll be running the powersteering & alternator off of the crank pulley (no smog pump needed for my car in Colorado). I've thought for years that my belt tensioner was on it's way out, and that was why the belt's kept popping off, so will I need that now that I've shortened the run??? Oh yeah, one more question (or three!) Anybody know how to get the powersteering pump & bracket out as one unit? Looks like I can't clear/get the unit passed the one long stud goiong into the motor without removing the radiator...... What size allen bolt (??) goes into the front of the p.s. pulley & how should I try and keep it from moving while applying copious amounts of tuggiung power to it..
Sorry for the long post, but I miss it already & it's only been two days.
The wife's '03 MINI S pales in comparison....

ps. Any thing aftermarket I could use instead? I've seen billet (read$$)
setups at carshows etc. that look real purty for bracketry etc....
