AC update questions

Steve - for what it's worth, the compressor on my 5.0 is vintage 91 or so - still going strong, quiet, no leaks (dry as a bone).

Greg - Perhaps I'll take a look at a later model Volvo system. However, I'm disenchanted with the heater side as well. Can't seem to find a heater control valve that actually lets me control how much hot water goes through the heaater core. I've added an additional ball valve to mine to shut it completely off in the summer.

The Vintage Air units work really well in the street rod apps I've seen - complete control - floor, vent, dash; mixed air for defrost; more air and quieter; etc. Fitment is a bit of a challenge as I don't think it will quite fit in the space between the plastic panels -- but I believe I can fashion suitable covering for the bit of it that will protrude into the passenger side below the dash.

I added a Behr A/C kit to a VW Jetta I bought without air many years ago. I'd like to reconfigure this one too.
