I'm about to try and squeeze some larger rubber under my 242. I'm currently running Mille Miglia 16X7's with 225/50/16 Michelin Sport Pilots. I have polyurethane bushings everywhere, adjustable Panhard with the rear end centered, and trimmed fender lips in the rear. I'm trying to move up to 245/45/16's. I believe I'll need a small spacer in front as the inner shoulder of the tire is EXTREMELY close to the strut tube with the 225. In the rear, I have about 1/2" between shoulder and inner fender, and about an inch between shoulder and fender lip.
Is there any downside to trimming the fender lip any more? I think I can see spot welds - perhaps where the quarter skin attaches to the inner fender at the lip -- is that right? I probably don't want to cut through any of those spot welds - right?
Any counsel you have -- including specific tire/wheel combos that you've made work is welcomed. I won't go crazy with big spacers and long studs -- the combo I have now works too well, and if I can't go a bit bigger rather easily, I'll just re-tire in the same size I have now.
Thanks - Michael
