Hm, I think you have to see exactly where the fuel is coming out from. Pull out the injectors from the intake and leave them on the rail like I suggested, and jumper the fuel pump relay so that the pump runs. On second thought, do the injectors have clips securing them onto the rail? If they don't, they may pop off the rail when you turn the fuel pump on.
Oh, another question, you said you turned the key on briefly to build pressure, you mean you had it in the run position, or did you actually crank the starter? If you didn't crank the starter, then you probably have some kind of bad injector, because none of the injectors should be firing yet.
