I have a 1989 Volvo 740 Ford 302 V8 conversion.
I bought it as a write off and had it repaired.
The repair shop missed the fact that the driver side motor mount adapter bracket was twisted and one of the welds broken.
The bracket consists of two rectangular pieces of mild steel welded together on one edge into a shallow V and reinforced by a piece of pipe which is welded to both pieces of flat metal in the angle.
Does anyone recognise this design?
Does anyone have a better idea? It is pretty weak and poorly executed (the weld did not have much penetration.
A drawing would help, if anyone has one.
Triangular pieces welded on either end would make the bracket much stronger but would also make it very difficult to access the motor mount bolt (the reason, no doubt for the use of the pipe reinforcement in the forst place).
Thanks,
Mike H
