I think the one piece may give you a bit more flexibility when it comes to lining up engine/tranny angles -- if you use the two piece you need to get the Ford engine/tranny pretty much in the same spot the Volvo unit was. It's not a big deal - I've seen them with both. If you're gonna lower the car much, the one piece can come into contact with the driveshaft tunnel on the passenger side under the back seat.
Just curious - is the T'bird shaft the right length? I just had a local truck repair shop make a new one piece for mine - about $150.
