Any downsides to the 302 5.0 swap?

Since you are yet another recent V8 convert with a possible blown heater core, you may want to purchase a $15 flow control valve from Ford (PN EV7Y-18D358-A). I suspect that the coolant pressure in the V8 is too much for the old volvo heater cores.

I am still trying to find out where my little valve goes for sure, because I just replaced my heater core this weekend and do not want to do it again soon.

I did it myself with no cutting of the airbox because I have heard that shops will hack your box apart to save time and still charge you the 1K plus for a complete job.

Once I moved everything out of the way, it was no problem except for the foam collar around the box. Mine was torn so I had to make a new one with some air filer foam, some black RTV gasjet and four zip ties around the lip to keep that sucker on.

Do it yourself and save a grand!

Good luck,
Edmund
