Agree that there are speed rating differences btwn the Pirelli's and the Generals (Y vs W), but the speed difference is 186mph for the Pirelli's vs 168mph for the Generals. For some people, I'm sure that is significant, but it's been at least a few weeks since I've cracked the 170mph barrier in my C70.

I'd guess that for the majority of drivers, having a lower speed rating is a worthwhile tradeoff to save mucho bucks and more importantly, have a tire that will hopefully last longer and not develop defects soon after install as many Pirelli owners report.
