STRANGE CLICKING FROM CENTRE OF DASH 98 S70

Sounds like a vent damper is broken. The good thing is the actuator motor is still running!
You need to remove the kick panels from under the instrument panel and the glove box. Then move the direction dial from auto to the different vent positions until you hear the noise, that will tell you which vent is broken. Usually it is the plastic tube that the motor is inserted into. It can be glued and repaired, strictly DIY.
