trouble starting when warm V70-XC70 1999

It could be a fuel delivery problem. It is probably time to replace the fuel filter anyway, so do that.
Every time you turn the key to pos II, the fuel relay tells the pump to prime the pressure. So, you tell it to do that twice when you hit the starter a little bit and then start it again.
Or, it could even be the cam position sensor going.
