Ok get home put it on the Jumper cables and look for what was left on.... Nothing. So I Open Z door and I hear the Blower motor running... No key in the ignition and the blower switch in the off postion???

Well been living without the Blower unit, but with the morning dew in the NE, it's time to start looking at this again.

If it was a short somewhere wouldn'the short then be on the negative side? I just pulled the Plug and put the #5 Fuse back in and I have a positive voltage. The connector was marked + /- where the Blue wire was +.

Also if it was short somewhere wouldn't the fan switch still vary the Blower Speed? Right now with or without the key on the fan speed is steady at low speed and with the ignition key on and then vary the fan switch and the fan does not change..

I'm guess then the only way for the Fan to see power is that something in the Climate Control unit has failed... Does the Climate Control see power around the ignitiom switch?

I was thinking relay. But Chilton's doesn't show relays for the '97 850 and I'm not sure where they are?

Just a power stage gizzmo between the fan and the fan switch. Power stage is on the inside firewall.
But if the key is off, then there is a short in the wiring before the key switch. It could be the starter wire fell off and is touching the frame? Is the blower running backwards???

One other clue: I have no Fan Speed control what so ever. Wether it's on O, intermidite. or any where in between it just kind of "hums" along with zero change....

If the car starts, then look for a short closer to the blower. The wires could be burned, fused, or the resistor burned out. All of those have happened before to others.

Just remove the kick panel, and take a look up at the blower. the problem should be to the left of the blower.

Took the glove box out... Wiggled all the wires around and all seems fine. To the left of power connector there is a relay.. What is that for? I pulled it and fan Blower did not stop...

Tried pulling the Temp Controller to look at what's inside, but can't seem to pull it out enough to get the connectors unplug... Is their a way to pull the cable out further?

Cotton picket, you are checking every switched and fused area. But your power supply to the blower is bypassing all of them, which means that the ground to the blower is getting electricity. Pulling the powerless parts won't do you any good.
Trun the radio on, it won't work because the electrical supply from the key switch is off. Same is true of the climate control. Even if you pull the fuse for the blower, it will still humm as it tries to run backwards.

Check the wires around the alternator.

Could be some manfunction in the climate control unit. Just try pulling fuses one at a time to see which ones shuts off the fan. That'll give you a starting point.

I'll check the Steater wire. But then how would it start?

This is easy, you have a bad power stage (blower resistor). The blower always has (unswitched) battery voltage on it and the power stage controls the fan speed by pulse width modulating the negative side to ground. They fail in one of two ways - open where the fan will never run and shorted where the fan will never stop.

Ooops. I wish I would of checked back on my own Post!! Well I may have a Dual Climate Control for sale that I just purchased on ebay!!!

I guess I'll order the Resistor now from fcp now but what is "Climate Control" and how do I know if I have it?

One of the reason I was thinking that it was the Control unit was that the Vent Selector (Defrost, Dash, floor, etc) does not change the direction of the air flow... No matter what postion is selected, it just kinda comes out where it wants to... Well with the exception of defrost.. I believe when it's on defrost it appears to be "mostly" coming out the defrost...

Manual climate control has fan speed numbers, Electronic CC has numbers on the 2 temp dials.

Could the Climate Controller be responsible for the Vent selector not changing the direction of the air flow?

It COULD, but most likely that's the motor that controls the flap that directs the airflow is either jammed, stuck or burned out. Do you hear any noise when you change the airflow selection thing to indicate the car is actually trying to change it? If you have the electronic climate control, do you see flashing lights when you start the car?
