Remove and replace plastic trim at the front of dashboard next to windshield V70-XC70 1998

My V70 GLT is nearing 200K and its starting to show its age now. The dashboard plastic trim in front of the dashboard that holds the alarm armed indicator is cracking. I'd like to replace it. Are there mounting screws for it under the cowl in the engine compartment, or where are they?

The rectangular plastic part that holds the red light and the daylight sensor is a pressure fitted part. I just glued mine together, sloppily I might add.

To replace properly, you might want to find a 'donor' from an 850 or S/V70 up thru 2000 at a pick&pull. Bring a torx driver with you and remove the upper dash. Unplug the passenger airbag and the plastic light holder and bring the light home. Just do not turn the ignition on while the air bag is disconnected.

    RA,

First, congratulations on getting your car to its 2nd 100K.

Now for the bad news. That is part of entire lower dash section.

Does the dash make cracking or popping noises on rough roads? Does it move around? Then, you also have broken dash mounting tabs.

There are excellent write-ups of how to repair this. Or, you could get a new dash from a pick-n-pull.

This would be a good opportunity to replace the AC evaporator if needed.

    Bryan
