Is a remote control avvailable to the S80 navigation system. My dealer's parts department is unwilling or unable to check into this. Any helpwould be appreciated.

Yes, the remote works on my 99 S80 and I know it works on a 2000. I think I paid around $70. And don't let a dealer con you that it has to be installed, it works right out of the box.

The Volvo part number for the Navigation remote is 9452078. We purchased one from Borton Volvo in Minneapolis. Their web address is WWW.BORTONVOLVO.COM. Nice people and good prices,IMHO.

William, if your dealer's parts department is too lazy to look it up DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. I bought my remote through Borton as well for their excellent customer service and discounts. It works for our '99 S80 T6 and '01 V70 T5. Also, there is no need for a software download.

I believe so as there's now a list of parts in VEN (Volvos intranet) that shows all the parts for those for every model, even older S/V/C 70s and they use the remote as the steering wheel isn't replaced or modified.

The remote is also now deemed safer being that a passenger, other than the driver can now control it.

I'd try talking again to your parts department because it's new info and they should look into it, unless the remotes don't apply to S80s even though I've previously read here that they've been available in Europe for a while now.

Yes, there is a remote control available for the Nav system. I know it is part of the kit for a dealer installed system, I do not see why one cannot have one for a factory installed system.

The reason for 2000 models is as follows the remote is not as safe as the controls mounted on the wheel, there fore the factor will not give the remote. Now if you dealer install the the 2000 kit you get oth sets of controls or so you should. For 2001 factory gets only wheel controls and dealer install gets only remote. There was a change to the column that currently doesn't allow for the wheel mount.
