It would help to have the codes. The flashing arrow indicates a fault and automatically puts the tranny in limp home mode (which is the same as "W"). No, you cannot turn the W off without turning off the flashing arrow first.

The speedo signal goes through the ABS module before it gets to the TCU or ECU. So, if the ABS module dies, the tranny will not know how fast the car is going and will default to 3rd gear (limp mode). Continuing to drive in 3rd gear will wear the torque converter and eventually destroy the tranny.

You replaced the ABS module with an untested module, what do you expect? The ABS modules can be repaired, but I would want to know what all of the codes are first.
