I probably shouldn't have bragged on the 850, but it has been a very trouble free car. Last night, my daughter called to say that the "arrow light" that pointed up was flashing off and on and that the car kept dropping out of Over Drive. I just checked it and the light is flashing in neutral and at idle. There is nothing in the Haynes manual so I am hoping that someone has had to correct this problem before.

Hre is an update:

I pulled the OBD codes and found a 1-1-4 and 1-2-2. According to information on http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com, it appears that I have a "program selector open or short circuit" and "a solenoid S1 open circuit".

Since I have to run my crab traps for some Redfish bait early in the AM, I will probably not look into this any further until tuesday.

Surprisingly, I found a full description for the PNP switch replacement on http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com plus a transmission diagnosis file that let me run the on board diagnostics for the car. Once the diagnostics were run the fault cleared and I was able to reset the fault.

What I did was pull the console and check all of the wiring under neath for a short, then I took out the trans mode switch, disassembled it for cleaning and put it back in. I then removed the PNP switch, which was an after market replacement, opened it up for an inspection and cleaning, then reinstalled it in the car.

Once the diagnostics showed no problems, I took the little girl out for a test drive. Now it is back to the inlet for some more flounder fishing tomorrow. Life is good at Myrtle Beach!
