What Brake pads? 850

Great advice KlausC.

I have the AWD so I have different brakes in the rear, but I have FCP's Akebono ceramic pads in the back. I really really like them. They produce almost no dust, have never squealed and seem to provide good stopping power. I also have the FCP braided stainless steel flex lines in the back. Because they are ceramic I feel like they should provide good backup power for the fronts, should the front ever start to fade due to heat or wetness. I understand that ceramic pads have to get hot to work properly, but I'm okay with that to save on the dust and to have the added stopping capability for descending mountains and when towing.

As for the front it really really makes a difference as to what you expect and how you're going to use them. You might think 'racing' pads would be better but in actual fact you would not stop nearly as well in day-to-day driving. They're too hard and need to get hot before they really start to work. Softer pads are the answer, but how much softer? That's up to you.

I think I'm currently using FCP's 'deluxe' PBRs in the front and they are dusty as all hell and not terribly quiet, but they were cheap. I'll probably go for the 'Metal Masters' or the OEM next time.
