Emergency flasher switch V70-XC70 1998

My emergency flasher switch appears to have a mind of its own. It will engage intermitently, usually when noone is in the care. Not good, as it will drain the battery. I think part of the problem is the switch design, and the location. Normally other switches are pressed in to engage them, this one works in reverse, it pops out. It's easy to bump it as it is located in very busy area. Short of putting tape over it, what elase can I try?

Well, BTDT spontaneous flashing one for sure. I guess it helps to be well grounded in RWD where we never replace an electronic part if it can be soldered. I opened my switch up and resoldered the main terminals nearest the push button, as I recall. Anyway, there were so many solder points and I did the large ones that I could do easily. Cure the problem for these past few years.

If it indeed pops out on its own volition, replacement is the only option. The rear of the switch contains the relay for the turn signals. The entire switch can be pulled out of the console, unplugged, and replaced.

I agree to the poor placement. There are many times I have shifted into park, only to have a knuckle bump the switch and realize the flashers are going after I have locked the car.
