I have written about this before and I think you'll find it if you search a bit.
Your newer trans takes 3309/T-IV and your old trans takes DEX-III.
From what I can tell, 3309/T-IV is approximately the same as DEX-III except that it's been heavily 'friction modified' to allow the internal clutches to slip against each other.
A transmission that was designed to have friction modified fluid will run very poorly without it.
A transmission that was not designed to have friction modified fluid will likely just have no use for the friction modifiers. The commonly held opinion is that it will probably have no effect at all. The trans will just ignore the friction modifiers.
I suspect this is how the 'multi-vehicle' transmission fluids can claim such broad coverage - they have the friction modifiers and rely on regular DEX-III type transmissions to function well anyway. I'm not sure though.
Now, with that said, I have never tried this or even read an account of anyone who's tried it. What you do in your car is up to you.
I don't personally think there will be any problem in using 3309/T-IV in a DEX-III transmission, but I don't know that for sure.
