Hello all

How does the heater tap work in this car ?

The heater is running full bore

When i turn on the A/C, the air still comes out boiling hot

Just today the check engine light came on( havent had time to scan as yet)

Could both issues be connected

I notice that it is only the RHS that is affected

Does this offer any further clues

On further inspection there is cold air lhs and hot air rhs and does not change no matter where the A/C controls are set

Hi,my 2007 XC 70 has just developed exactly the same fault cold rhs hot lhs
have you discovered how to fix it? (I hope so)

Check your battery voltage, if the battery is old, replace it.

Does the seat heater still work, if not unplug the seat and plug it back in. Same it true for other modules, windows, mirrors, etc.

Hi Klaus,yes heated seats still work will check battery tomorrow,but have had no problems with it.

battery is fine,I disconnected for about six hrs to try and reboot everything
but to no avail,fed up.

The CEL was the gas cap i think

Can you advise where and how to check the flaps on the heater

and if there is a diy test for the climate control system

are any of these functions vacuum controlled

questions questions i know-----sorry

Vacuum is only used in the engine compartment. The climate control is all electric.

The only way to check the flaps is to remove the kick panels under the dash. If none of them move, it is probably a fault in the climate control module(CCM). The problem with the CCM is money, they are expensive to replace or refurbish, and you do not want to do that unless you have a diagnostic computer that can interrogate the CCM and look for faults.

You could call xemodex.com and ask their experts about the CCM. A repaired unit is about $350.

Heat is always "on", the antifreeze always circulates through the heater core. What regulates the heat are dampers that open/close depending on the climate control settings. Turning on the AC via the console switch does not turn off the heat, the switch just allows the AC to turn on. Dampers control the amount of cold air to be circulated.

So, you either have a broken damper or a misguided climate control unit.

In my Volvos, I have always left the AC switched on year round and let the climate control regulate the temperature automatically.

As for the check engine light, read the codes.
