where is the power? 850 1994

now i know the volvo 850 n/a isn't know for being a out of the box racing machine but where has my power gone?
when i got it 2 1/2 years ago it was peppy and had a little life, since then it has just gotten sluggish very sluggish
and yet my brother 97 850 n/a it full of life and spanks mine off the line
so where did all my power go?
could his be a faster car in stock form over when i got mine 2 1/2 years ago (b/c it seems to be)
both are sedan and have pretty close milage 75000+

where is the power? 850 1994

    Just some things:

    Good sparkplugs?
    Correct gap setting?
    Good leads?
    Distributor contacts clean and intact?
    Timing belt in good shape?
    Clean fuel filter?
    Injectors OK?
    Valves clean?
    Cat still flowing OK?
    Air filter clean?
    Throttle body clean?
    'binding' brakes?
    Tyre pressures OK?

    etc. etc. etc..

Basic checks of all relevant parts.

Performance really shouldn't change a lot over the cars lifespan.

    Bye, Arno.

      I agree with Arno 850 1994

I agree with Arno, try a full and complete tuneup. Volvo's like new plugs every 20k miles or so. If you have an automatic then change the fluid....at 75k it needs it.

If the car still feels weak then take it to a dealer and ask him to test drive it and see what they say. Another option.....a dyno run is the gold standard in seeing how much power your car is puting to the ground.

After you cover the basics that Arno lists then start looking for more things.
