I have a 2000 HT coupe and am starging to have electrical problems. I have heard that Volvo is famous for them and am starting to get nervous about continuing to own this car. Its only got 25000 miles on it.

The problems Im having are first, the interior dome light comes on whenever I move the steering column. It will stay on if I lock it back down in the right spot, otherwise it will turn off if locked in another position. In addition, sometimes my blinkers dont blink but rather stay on, same goes for the hazzards. This seems to be fixed only when I sharply jab the hazzard button.

Any comments or experiences would be appreciated.

You think you have problems, my interior lights does not work an if I turn on the interior lights the chime will go off. An check this out, if I open the glove box an then close it the doors will unlock. Still working on the problem wish me luck!!

I would venture a guess that the switch in the ignition lock for the KEY REMINDER is getting stuck.
When you "open the door just as it should" Oh sorry we're not talking about a car accident. Ahh yes if you open the door with the key in the ignition position zero, you should here a chime. If you don't try jolting the wheel with your hand. If the chinme goes away there's your problem. If not We need more information.
As for the hazards and signals,,,, The relay function is in the hazard button,
pop out your radio reach in behind and give it a push. Get a new one from your Volvo store.
Have you had your recalls and service campaings completed??? Volvo can't send you a notificaition if you have moved since you bought the car and not told them!

The hazard switch relay is also used for the turn signals. It is
known to fail. I believe you can pull the radio to get at it
(I assume it is behind the hazard switch).

I have not heard of the dome light related to the steering column
position.

Jason..pull out ashtray, push out the emergency flasher switch and replace it. Very common problem, bad switch/relay combo. As far as you interior lights, no can do!
