Front Wheel Bearing Replacement 850 1996

I am planning to replace the left front wheel bearing hub assembly on my 96 850 (80K).
In reviewing the Haynes manual on this job, the installation instructions say to "apply .12 to.16 inch of metal adhesive to the splines of the outer CV joint before installing the joint into the hub flange." My question is what type of metal adhesive is required? Can this metal adhesive be bought at a parts store or is a dealer the only source of this metal adhesive?

Also the instructions in the Haynes manual says that after torquing the bolts that hold the hub to the steering knuckle, to use an "angle tightening gauge."
My next question is, what is an"angle tightening gauge" and is it possible to do this part of the job without an agle tightening gauge?
Thanks in advance for any help someone can give me with these wheel bearing replacement questions.

Forget that Haynes crap. Romove the axle, the take the 4 star bolts out and hammer out the hub. Get a wire brush and brush it out real good, then go back together with it. That adhesive stuff is B.S. no dealer does that. The angle tightening gauge, Ignore it just make sure everything is tight going back together and dont worry.

I agree. I watched my mechanic replace the wheel bearings and that was what he did. However, failure at your mileage sounds premature. Sure the problem isn't somewhere else? In my case I found out too late. The weird noise and vibration were caused by my tires but the mechanic ripped me off several hundred by changing the bearings.

Good luck!

Thanks for the good advice. One other "Haynes crap" instruction is to replace the 4 star bolts when the bearing is replaced. Is that necessary? They are special order items from the dealer which is an indicator in itself that they replace them!.
Thanks again!!!!
