Wet, dried, cracked leather seats V70-XC70 2002

Hey.

So last summer I left the sunroof open overnight. There was a downpour and the driver's side leather seat was soaked. We dried it out, etc., but now the leather is getting stiff and cracking. All the other leather seats are still in great shape. Is there a way to refurbish the leather? I've used the Volvo Leather Kit, but it can't help this. Any ideas for products or services would be appreciated. Thanks.

Color Plus and Leatherique are basically the same product. I can't remember the whole story but the creator/inventor passed away and a disputed estate resulted in two successors.

    Estonia,

    I agree with Ziebens.

The Leatherique (www.leatherique.com) product line is probably your only option for restoring the leather upholstery.

If it is badly cracked, you'll need to use the crack filler and re-dye the leather. The process is fairly straight forward and with some practice you'll get a good result.

I've done this with the driver's seat on my '98 and it turned out well. Maintain the leather with their Rejuvenator Oil and Prestine Clean.

No, I don't get a commission for recommending them. I've tried most everything out there and it was the only stuff that worked.

    Good luck,

    Bryan

Thanks. I've checked around a lot, and people do seem to think that Leatherique is the way to go! I'll try it!. Thanks.

Lexol is awfully thin and watery - fine for normal use but I would say you need a heavier oil - something like Color Plus conditioner - 570-686-3158. Best time to put it on is a hot day, sitting in the sun with the windows rolled up. They also sell a refinish product - you could strip the finish, oil it and then redye it. Probably have to do both seat to get a good color match. The other alternative, if the other seats are that good, is just to get it reupholstered.

    Dear Estonia:
Pretty much screwed but depending on how bad the leather is maybe take the car to a auto detailer that have lots of products to choose from, for example check out-- http://www.leatherworldtech.com/AutoDetailing.aspx
If it not too bad try some Lexol (tm) that works fairly well for conditioning minor damage.
