To Cruise or Not To Cruise 850

The cruise control in my 94 855 started to fail occassionally two summers ago. At first, on hot afternoons it simply would not engage. Then, on hot days if I tapped the brakes it wouldn't resume. The next morning, the cruise would work fine. As the warmer days became fewer the cruise would work fine. I can't recall an instance between October and late March that the cruise control failed.

Last summer the problems became more frequent, but again went away in the winter. This year, since the weather has started to warm up, they are nearly constant.

As a "Safety Professional" (fits with driving a Volvo, right!) I advocate using cruise control as one means to increase attention to what is going on around us in our cars...instead of constantly worrying about speed. And, as we all know a steady speed improves fuel mileage (my average is 30+). So, I miss my cruise control.

Any help in running this latest problem to ground will be appreciated.

Be Safe...and Keep Pedalling
