My Wife's 95 850 Wagon has a problem with the flashing up arrow light and the CEL. When the automatic transmission is cool (less than 40 Deg. F) it will not shift out of low. You can let off the gas, slide the transmission in neutral and then back into drive and the trans would work perfectly from then on out. I took it to a Volvo Service Mechanic and he said that the codes were 124 and 114 which indicated a bad Mode Selector Switch. He replaced it. The next morning I had the same problem. I took it back but now the code was 322. I let him keep the car overnight so that he could drive it cold first thing in the morning but we had a warm night and the transmission didn't act up when he test drove it that morning. He said that the problem may be mechanical and that I may have to have the transmission replaced. I have a hard time believing this since it works fine and shifts smooth except when its cold first thing in the morning. Any ideas anybody???
