Brake Bleeding S70 1999

I just ha the brake system flushed at 30,000 mile by an ex Volvo Tech. We used the tube in the bottle and pump the pedal method. I seem to feel a small amount of air in the system. The front pads are due to be replaced. Can this sytem be bled the traditonal way? Will new pads raise the pedal?
