I have a 95 850 wagon for my kids to drive---got it used with 45K on it 4 or so years ago. Have put in a new heater core, and some front suspension stuff. maybe have $5500 into it at this point.
It was idling very roughly, so limped it into the shop this morning. The call came in and to my mind it doesn't sound good at all. "No compression in the 3 cylinder-you need a new motor". That's it, thank you so very much.
So---I feel like I got kicked in the stomach--what do I do now? This car (as well as my own 96 850) has eaten us alive in costs, though mine is in much better shape. Do I part the thing out? Do I find a used engine and replace it? Do I just cry and try to find a nice Honda or a Subaru? Do I get a second opinion?
What causes something like this? We take good care of our vehicles, it has 152K on it, we've put on all of maybe 3500 miles in the time we've had it. I am mad/sad/angry/disappointed...you name it. Where to now? How much would this cost and is it worth it? The body is ok on this car, it has warped rotors and will need those done, and it really needed a tune up (moot point now I guess)....
TIA
