Is there a way to manually disable winter mode on a 1999 Volvo XC V70??? It's going into winter mode at random, and Volvo says that I have a transmission internal fault and wants $4,800 to replace my tranny. I just need the car to last until May when I finish school. That repair price is more than the car is worth.
Replaced the ABS master module, because this had fixed problems like the current winter mode problem and random warning light issues I had last year. When the same problems returned, I thought the fix would be as simple as it was the first time. I had gotten the first ABS moduel from a junk yard, so I figured it just died of old age. The newest module was a reman.
Symptoms:
- Shift up light continually blinks
- Shifts down to winter mode at random
- Check engine light will not go off (even when a computer reset is attampted)
- ECM light stays on
I had the exact same symptoms with the shift problem over a year ago and an ABS module made it run perfect until the recent issues. Replaced the modul again, but didn't work this time (some other warning lights did go out though).
