Result of preliminary diagnostic V70-XC70 2005

So, the guy at FCP recommended that I disconnect the temperature sender, and if the sender was bad the fan wouldn't run when disconnected. Turns out that he fan control module is located, I believe, on the fan itself.

Began with a cold engine. I started by disconnecting the temperature sensor. The car would not start (never saw that before). Reconnected it, car started after several seconds, and the fan DIDN'T run (first time this happened in weeks).

Disconnected the sensor while running, and the fan came on high speed. Reconnected it and the fan went off. Repeated this a few times. Then the fan came on at slow speed with the sensor connected.

Disconnected again, and fan went to high speed, reconnected and it went back to slow speed. Repeated same behavior several times.

Maybe the contacts were dirty/resistive? Beats me. I need to drive it a few days and see what happens I guess.
