Split CV Boot 850 1995

I was interested in changing my CV Boots being that they are ripped. I purchased the kit from Volvo, but It seems to complicated of a job for me. I noticed that Auto Part stores sell "Split Boots" which has a split down the middle allowing it to just wrap around the axle. Has anyone used one of these? Is it easy to install? Are all boot a Stanered diameter at the ends? I'm mainly concerned if it will cause vibration and the ease of installation.
