Buy a stopwatch. 850 1995

When the boot cracks, I hope you have a stopwatch. Because you should at that point start it, knowing that a CV joint failure is as imminent as the sun rising in the east. I.E.: every day that goes by you're letting dirt and rocks into a very complex gear (packed with, guess what, a dirt magnet - grease). Do the math, it's not worth it!
