I'm close to purchasing 1998 v70 Turbo that overheated. The seller is willing to give it to me at a low price (basically a bit above junkyard price).
I know that the car is mechanically identical to my c70. You may or may not know that I did a complete head gasket job on my c70 a few months back and learned quite a bit about the whiteblock engine from the experience.
I'm looking at a car that had a full-blow overheat. It's in awesome condition - low miles, great body and interior, but it lost coolant from the turbo drain and it led to a full-on overheat. The seller tells me that it's been garaged for x3 years.
There are good B5234T3 engines to be found around here and several junkyards. If I am *very* lucky this could be as simple as replacing the engine head. But worst case...
What else breaks on a B5234 when it looses coolant?
Someone mentioned engine bearings. I know that this engine cranks, but doesn't start. So maybe the bearings are still good?
Could the turbo be wrecked? What else could be wrong? Wasted cooling system parts? Anything else?
Worst case, it will be an excellent parts donor.
Thanks as always.
