I am at a crossroads and am in need of the experiences of the readers of this board. I am trying to decide on the fate of our "96 850 GLT. We are the second owners. We purchased the vehicle in "98 from a dealership in Houston with 20337 miles on the odometer. In "99 we had the routine maintenance including the 30K & 40K mile services, A/C leak service and a brake job including the replacement of rotors. Excluding the expenses of new tires and oil changes, we spent roughly $800.00. In 2000 we replaced an alternator, all dash and console lamps (1/2 of them were not working), replaced a suspension link and serviced the A/C again including freon for approximately 1000.00. So far, so good. In 2001, we needed another brake job including new rotors "again" and paid about 700.00. Last year it hit the fan. The vehicle was "T-boned" on the passanger side by a Surburban that pulled into traffic. The insurance company spent 13,000.00 to put her back together, and since then we have replaced the A/C evaporator & drier, the recirculator motor, the floor/defrost motor, lower controll arms, ball joints, a driver side sun visor, a steering wheel (when the horn contacts wore out) and the ABS module, to the tune of 4200.00. Last week we replaced 4 tires due to uneven wear on the outside edge (dispite routine rotation, balancing and front end allignments) and learned that we need another brake job including the rotors (again! Αrd set of rotors]). We currently have 102,000 miles on her and are wondering if we have bitten the bullet already and should keep her, with the belief that the worst is behind us, or are we fooling ourselves and it is time to replace her? If anyone has faced this delima and has kept the vehicle I am curious to hear from you redarding the hindsight you have. Obviously, any and all feedback is welcome.
Regards and thanks in advace.
