An update from several previous posts concerning my transmission. The service manager at Keystone Motors in Doylestown PA. stated that just changing the valve body in most cases would not solve the problem. They would usually end up putting in a reman. tranny after several weeks or months any way. Why spend another $1300. So I left my car there for the $3100 tranny change. Well, driving home in their loaner car I decided to go back and get a second opinion at a transmission shop. By the time I drove the car to the next shop it began to run pretty normal(volvo dealer did clear the codes). The shop owner pulled the dip stick and found that the fluid was almost 2 quarts over max! He also said the problem with the shifting could have just been some dirt in the solenoid. The tech also found the fluid to be foaming(most likely due to the overfill In Jan.
I had another Volvo dealership( Brown Daub in Nazareth PA) flush and refill with Mobil 1 syn. Well, I called Brown Daub and informed the tech/scheduler of the overfill and he insinuted that I was lying and it was impossible to overfill the tranny using his machine! I already had a long day, and was done with the bs and hung up. While I was heading back to the only person who had a any real knowledge about transmissions(Cottman Transmissions in Allentown PA) to drain the excess, Brown Daub had a change of heart and called me on my cell, requesting that I stop back to check my claim of excess fluid. I drove to the dealer and he proceeded to drain about 2 extra quarts. My transmission has been normal since. It has been over 4 weeks with no messages and a perfect tranny. If I did not turn aroun that morning and and get my car back for a second opinion, I would have been taken for 3100 dollars by Keystone Motors in Doylestown PA....
