i have had similar experiences with volvo dealers in nj and in iowa, not with trannies but other problems, one broke my headlight lens, the other did a brake job wrong not putting rotors on even after i repeatedly asked if i needed them. Later when i had noise problems they admit i "might" have needed them. Had another recommend i change air pump becuase it was setting codes. Turned out to be the solonoid in the front below the shroud, i blew through it and it wasnt flowing causing a air flow to low code.
volvo really needs to do something about their performance, for 60 bucks a hour at a indy mechanic i dont expect perfection but for 95 or 100 a hour i certinly do.
i would call volvo cars of america 1800 25 volvo and file a formal complaint, might also try contacting the owner of the dealership, let him know what kind of workers he has there. I guess be glad it wasnt your oil overfilled 2 quarts.
