can't decide 850

This question could go on any forum really, but I need some final advice/opinions. I have been researching Volvo's for awhile now and while I would still like to get one, it seems like Volvo's require more attention/maintenance than other cars, particularly Japanese cars. Is this observation of mine accurate? I have the $$ to buy a used vehicle, but I'm afraid if I go with the Volvo I wont be able to afford the maintenance as I'm on a tight budget. Thanks in advance for your advice/opinions.
