(almost) new to Volvos-need help with potential purchase (97 850R) 850

I am considering purchasing a high mileage (170k) 97 850R wagon but need a bit of help from those who know this vehicle. The price seems more than right (6k) and Carfax checks out. Obviously I will get it thoroughly checked out by a Volvo mechanic, but I'm wondering if I'm looking at a headache down the road. It certainly was a blast to drive! The interior is more worn than I would like, especially the suede on the seats (all pilled and matted). Can anything be done about that? Anyway any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm familiar with the general issues surrounding the 850 model but not with the 97 R.
