Ok, so GM has techs rebuilding or replacing these transmissions and sending them to a Volvo dealership to put back into my car. My question is when that same tech opens up my failing 1999 Volvo S80 T6 tranny, What does he see? Stripped gears, metal shavings, torn gaskets, other broken parts. The lights on the dash board suggest the end of the world but to someone not trying to make a profit, where lies the real problem.
The techs at this Pennsylvania Volvo Dealership are suggesting a new transmission and throttle body based on the codes in the car and the fact that there is some dark residue in the fluid. I checked and saw the same residue but after wiping the stick and rechecking the trans fluid again, it was all red.
Having read some suggestions about replacing just the solenoids and not the whole transmission, I’m curious to know if anyone has some new insight on these issues?
