new pretty 8-Fiddy 850 1996

So this is day 2 with the "new" wagon and so far we are very pleased. I just dumped my '00 Passat GLX wagon (a small miracle to have it gone!!)as we were facing some MAJOR repair work that the factory certified warranty should have, but VWofA wouldn't cover. Long story, but what a huge, HUGE disappointment VW has been. So glad to have it gone. I will never say never, but it will be a long while before I drive one again.

Some initial observations - the interior ride in the 850T is much quieter and more "cushy" feeling. nice blend of luxury and performance. What a great feel underfoot getting onto the freeway or passing someone. After 90K and a solid maintenance history, this car seems to be just coming into season. I spent the day waxing and detailing, and I have been amazed at the beautiful pearl color that emerged from beneath a dull exterior. Great lines and posture, maybe I'm just used to the roundy vw/audi design language, but i think i like this classic shape maybe slightly better than the latest V70 (slightly :). Negatives - maybe the handling is bit squishier than the GLX, loose the tails abit more around curvy roads. Of course the newer VW/Audis are pretty intuitive when it comes to some details, but - comparing a similar generation VW to similar Volvo is more fair and Volvo wins hands down. Love the extra room and 3rd row seat (excellent for little kids!)

Any words of wisdom from the experienced? Of course I will carry on the torch with the regular scheduled maintenance, but what should I be looking out for at this stage? Still need a remote key if anyone has a good source. Overall very happy to be back in a Volvo.

cheers!
