E Brake Questions

A broken cable is easy for the 850 (2 cables). If you can grab it at the console with a pair of pliers and pull it up an inch or 2, it is broken.
A rusted cable is another problem. This happens a lot with automatics, where owners never use the ebrake.
If the cable is rusted, it will not pull. Or fail to retract after it is pulled about 1/2 inch.

Cables are expensive and require the rear seat and carpet to be removed to replace.

You did adjust the star wheel and tighten the cables at the console afterwards, right? :)
